Distortion pedals take overdrive to the next step. While overdrive gives you some breakup, and fuzz takes your sound to wild places, distortion features heavy breakup and a tighter response. Some famous distortion pedals include the DOD 250, the Boss DS-1, and the ProCo RAT. Distortion pedals often feature hard-clipping diodes, as opposed to overdrive’s soft-clipping diodes.
